When caught in a predicament I usually find myself saying: Well, I'm ONLY human!
What exactly is that supposed to mean? I guess it means, I am fully aware that I am not God and therefore I am not perfect. Wouldn't you agree?
But doesn't that statement really go a little deeper than that? When we say - I'm ONLY human aren't we just trying to find a justifiable excuse for bad behavior?
What separates us from the plant or animal kingdom? Simple, we have a mind, therefore we need NOT be governed by our environment or primal instincts.
Did you know that we have the ability to be perfect. The Bible says Job was a perfect (some versions say righteous) man, and so was Noah. And of course Jesus proved perfection to us as well. But we choose to make mistakes. Therefore, we all fail to live up to expectations, either God's, our own or someone elses.
The beauty of being a human is that we can get up every morning and CHOOSE to do the right things.
In Matthew 5:48, Jesus says "Be perfect, just as your Father in Heaven is perfect". We have to remember that God doesn't tell us to do something we cannot do.
Warmly,
