How easy it is... to get upset with something or someone and say..."That's it! I quit!".
However, usually the thing, the person or the situation is not the the problem. We are the ones that are the problem.
Perhaps our expectations go beyond what is reasonable. Perhaps we have lost sight of the true purpose and started imposing our own agenda on something or someone else. Perhaps we have forgotten that God has called us to have a joyful heart, a heart full of servanthood- Not just to be "made" happy, fulfilled or served by others.
When we get to the point of saying "I quit", we are often to the point of no return. The wounds those words leave on another and ourselves are difficult to heal. I can guarantee you, before those words leave your lips, there have been many tiny thoughts and actions - wrong thoughts and actions leading up to that point.
It's time we quit letting the devil use our mind as a garbage dump. Tell him you quit! You quit listening to his lies, deceit and scare tactics.
Renew your mind everyday. Water the seeds of truth with His words. Give Him the authority over your mind, will and emotions. Never give up on God and His plan and purpose for you.

Well, I'm ONLY human!
When caught in a predicament I usually find myself saying: Well, I'm ONLY human!
What exactly is that supposed to mean? I guess it means, I am fully aware that I am not God and therefore I am not perfect. Wouldn't you agree?
But doesn't that statement really go a little deeper than that? When we say - I'm ONLY human aren't we just trying to find a justifiable excuse for bad behavior?
What separates us from the plant or animal kingdom? Simple, we have a mind, therefore we need NOT be governed by our environment or primal instincts.
Did you know that we have the ability to be perfect. The Bible says Job was a perfect (some versions say righteous) man, and so was Noah. And of course Jesus proved perfection to us as well. But we choose to make mistakes. Therefore, we all fail to live up to expectations, either God's, our own or someone elses.
The beauty of being a human is that we can get up every morning and CHOOSE to do the right things.
In Matthew 5:48, Jesus says "Be perfect, just as your Father in Heaven is perfect". We have to remember that God doesn't tell us to do something we cannot do.
Warmly,

I'll be happy when...........
How many times do we say things like...
I'll be happy when school starts.
I'll be happy when school's out.
I'll be happy when the weekend is here.
I'll be happy when winter is over.
I'll be happy when I get that "dream" job.
I'll be happy when....... And the list goes on.
The fact of the matter is, if we get into the habit of thinking I'll be happy when this or that happens, we will never be happy. We will just continue finding things to be unhappy about.
We must say to ourselves: I'll be happy when? I'll be happy NOW!
Easier said than done at times I know, but every minute we waste in unhappiness can never be regained. Happiness and contentment are a choice. And it doesn't have to depend on our circumstances.

Blah! I'm having a bad day!
Things I say to myself: If you think you are having a bad day, try rereading the Book of Job.
In just one day a man named Job lost everything. And I mean EVERYTHING! All of his earthly belongings (some Bible scholars say in today's times, that amount would be over 5 Million dollars) and all of his 10 children ( uh.... PRICELESS!)
Add to that, he had boils that covered his entire body and his wife and friends all but called him a criminal for heaping such rotten circumstances on himself. Their best advice: Curse God and die.
Hmmm... now if that had happened to us, what would our reaction be?
And yet he was was able to say.... "I came into this world naked and poor and I can leave the same way. The Lord gives and the Lord takes away. Blessed (meaning highly exalted) be the name of the Lord." In the end, God rewarded his faithfulness (questioning but not cursing God) with double everything he had lost.
Moral of the story: It could be worse. And it will get better!
